Our Story
About Visilex.com
A domain with roots in the security industry, now operating as an independent review authority.
The Domain's History
Visilex.com has existed in the security technology space since 2002, when the domain served as an online presence for a regional CCTV supply operation. It occupied a corner of the market where cameras, DVRs, cable, and mounting hardware were sold to installers and commercial clients across the northeastern United States.
The site changed hands and purpose over the following decade. As the security camera market shifted from analog CCTV to IP cameras, from on-premise DVRs to cloud storage, and from contractor-only systems to consumer-grade products on Amazon, the need for honest evaluation became clearer.
By 2014, Visilex.com had been rebuilt as an independent review publication with no equipment to sell and no manufacturer relationships to protect.
What We Do Today
Visilex.com is an independent review hub for security cameras, CCTV systems, access control, and surveillance technology. The editorial team includes former systems integrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity professionals who evaluate products against real-world performance criteria rather than press release bullet points.
Cameras are tested in actual environments: summer heat, sub-zero winters, rain, direct sunlight, and complete darkness. Testing includes video compression benchmarks, true field-of-view measurements, app reliability across iOS and Android, and network traffic analysis for privacy and security issues.
Coverage is written for buyers who want to make the right call the first time, whether protecting a single apartment or deploying a 50-camera commercial system.
